Berlusconi: fraud

Good news for the end of the week: Berlusconi to be tried for fraud. And, please note,

“Lawyer David Mills, the estranged husband of British Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell, has also been ordered to stand trial.”

  1. Hooray! About time. I shall be following with interest.

  2. But not, unfortunately, Mrs Mills

  4. Yeah. Right. And that trial is absolutely 100% certain to reach a conclusion one way or the other, isn't it?

Didn't you know that it is technically impossible for anyone to be fully convicted of fraud in Italy with no further appeal stages to keep them out of the nick?

It is also technically impossible for someone to leave court without a stain on their character there.

The Italian legal system – like almost every other aspect of Italian public life – is a complete farce.

I'm planning a campaign to have Italy chucked out of the EU. Any takers?
