{"id":775,"date":"2005-09-06T09:50:00","date_gmt":"2005-09-06T09:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jcm.org.uk\/blog\/2005\/09\/06\/112599709859740339\/"},"modified":"2005-09-06T09:50:00","modified_gmt":"2005-09-06T09:50:00","slug":"112599709859740339","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jcm.org.uk\/blog\/2005\/09\/112599709859740339\/","title":{"rendered":"112599709859740339"},"content":{"rendered":"<dl>Following <a href=\"http:\/\/europhobia.blogspot.com\/2005\/09\/eu-blair-government-and-id-cards.html\">my discovery yesterday<\/a> of a Blairite blitz on Brussels (well, Strasbourg) to try and con the EU into imposing dodgy &#8220;anti-terror&#8221; measures so that our Tony doesn&#8217;t have to bother with the inconvenience of parliament (starting with a Blunkett buddy civil servant talking about digital surveillance and ID to a European Parliament standing committee yesterday), it would appear that old Prezza is even being rolled into action.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of Charles Clarke&#8217;s speech before the European Parliament tomorrow, at which he is expected to propose all sorts of wonderful new EU-wide laws (e.g. lock everyone up and then shoot them just in case &#8211; because we can&#8217;t be seen to be being discriminatory, after all), Prescott is today meeting with the EP&#8217;s president Joseph Borrell.
