I am, however, feeling rather uninspired &#8211; unlike those revolutionaries and rebels contained within the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.siberianlight.net\/siberianlight\/2005\/05\/carnival_of_the_1.html\">Carnival of the Revolutions<\/a> over at Siberian Light &#8211; a handy summary of all the various revolts and uprisings currently kicking off around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Uzbekistan is currently in the news following the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.registan.net\/?p=5314\">slaughter of hundreds of protestors by government forces<\/a> over the weekend, but central Asia isn&#8217;t the only for pro-democracy activity. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.martinstabe.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/05\/blogs_are_faili.php\">It&#8217;s about time we started looking beyond our own back yards<\/a> after the last few months of Anglo-centric obsession. A bit more foreign affairs will be returning to Europhobia over the coming weeks. Probably.<\/p>\n<p><b>Update:<\/b> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloggerheads.com\/archives\/2005\/05\/jack_straw_huma.asp\">Manic gets a tad miffed<\/a> at the double standards and hypocrisy in the UK&#8217;s official attitude to Uzbekistan.
