{"id":433,"date":"2005-04-17T01:35:00","date_gmt":"2005-04-17T01:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jcm.org.uk\/blog\/2005\/04\/17\/general-election-blog-roundup-6\/"},"modified":"2005-04-17T01:35:00","modified_gmt":"2005-04-17T01:35:00","slug":"general-election-blog-roundup-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jcm.org.uk\/blog\/2005\/04\/general-election-blog-roundup-6\/","title":{"rendered":"General election blog roundup 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UP now at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.generalelection05.com\/blog\/?p=104\">General Election Blog<\/a> (and yes, I know it says it&#8217;s number 7 &#8211; technically it is, but meh&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Poll-wise, everyone&#8217;s got confused. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.co.uk\/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&amp;storyID=709422&amp;section=news&amp;src=rss\/uk\/topNews\">What&#8217;s it to be<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Various polls for various papers today have major variations, so let&#8217;s have a run down:<\/p>\n<div>Sunday Times:<br \/>\nLabour 36%, Tories 35%,  LibDems 23%<\/p>\n<p>News of the World:<br \/>\nLabour 40%, Tories 36%, LibDems 19%<\/p>\n<p>Sunday Telegraph:<br \/>\nLabour 40%, Tories 30%, LibDems 22%<\/p>\n<p>Independent on Sunday:<br \/>\nLabour 40%, Tories 34%, LibDems 22%\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Interstingly, both the News of the World and the Telegraph polls came from the same company &#8211; so how come the 6% difference in Conservative votes? Either way, A Logical Voice sums it up fairly neatly: <a href=\"http:\/\/logicvoice.blogspot.com\/2005\/04\/polls-give-labour-majority-between-60.html\">&#8220;Polls give Labour a majority of between 60 and 152 seats&#8230; that sort of majority would be absolutely scandalous&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As ever, <a href=\"http:\/\/pollingreport.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?p=353\">UK Polling Report has more<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and it looks like Labour may have twigged that they&#8217;ll be able to secure more votes if they start hinting at an early Blair exit. The Independent on Sunday claims to have evidence that <a href=\"http:\/\/news.independent.co.uk\/uk\/politics\/story.jsp?story=630189\">Blair is preparing to hand power over to Brown<\/a>, along with a poll which reckons that with Brown in charge, Labour would be 12 points ahead&#8230; As I pointed out ages ago, <a href=\"http:\/\/europhobia.blogspot.com\/2004\/10\/vote-blair-get-brown.html\">Vote Blair, Get Brown<\/a> could be Labour&#8217;s best possible strategy&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><b>Update:<\/b> Tim Worstall&#8217;s weekly <a href=\"http:\/\/timworstall.typepad.com\/timworstall\/britblog_roundup\/index.html\">Britblog Roundup<\/a> is now up, and as ever it&#8217;s a good un.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UP now at the General Election Blog (and yes, I know it says it&#8217;s number 7 &#8211; technically it is, but meh&#8230;) Poll-wise, everyone&#8217;s got confused.
