After repeated fuss about how the Commission is funding pro-EU and pro-constitution organisations and material, they&#8217;re now being attacked for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.euobserver.com\/?sid=843&amp;aid=18651\">funding their critics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The deputy head of the Liberals in the European Parliament, Silvana Koch-Mehrin, has said it is &#8216;scandalous&#8217; that EU money has been used to fund the anti-globalisation movement, Attac.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ms Koch-Mehrin told FT Deutschland that there should be a change in the way EU support money is allocated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8216;After all, Attac is a massive critic of the EU&#8217;, said the liberal MEP, who has written to the Commission asking how the situation arose.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What next? Should they stop paying anti-EU MEPs like Kilroy and the UKIP lot (who currently get <a href=\"http:\/\/www.civilservice.gov.uk\/management_information\/parliamentary\/parliamentary_pay\/pay\/index.asp\">\u00ef\u00bf\u00bd59,000 a year each<\/a>)?<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Tim Worstall spots a nice bit of <a href=\"http:\/\/timworstall.typepad.com\/timworstall\/2005\/03\/bias_at_the_mai.html\">anti-EU propaganda hiding in the Mail on Sunday&#8217;s crossword<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Quite why the Commission needs to fund its critics when the Eurosceptics have already got backers like Associated Newspapers and <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/business\/2037558.stm\">Rupert Murdoch<\/a>, I have no idea&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They just can&#8217;t win.
