Pity the poor news teams &#8211; and I speak from some experience here &#8211; every single story is either blindingly obvious or days, weeks, months, even years old:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/england\/london\/6980755.stm\">Bob Crowe is the worst advert for trade unionism in decades<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/europe\/6980493.stm\">Politician bitter at being sidelined by his party slags off the guy who beat him to the top job<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/uk_politics\/6978336.stm\">Political party&#8217;s policy direction not 100% supported by every member of said party<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/americas\/6980204.stm\">Institutional incompetence<\/a> (and <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/uk\/6979891.stm\">again<\/a>) and <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/americas\/6980859.stm\">the weather<\/a> is more scary than <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/europe\/6979295.stm\">pathetically incompetent wannabe terrorists<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/africa\/6979824.stm\">Zimbabwe is screwed<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/business\/6979577.stm\">So&#8217;s the global economy (most likely)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/south_asia\/6979228.stm\">Everyone in the UK forgot about the 10th anniversary of Mother Theresa&#8217;s death<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/business\/6979151.stm\">Products made in sweatshops are often a bit crap<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/africa\/6979104.stm\">Nothing constructive is being done about the situation in Darfur. Still.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/uk\/6980188.stm\">The UK government pretends it isn&#8217;t planning on doing something we all know it wants to do because of a bit of a negative press reaction<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/south_asia\/6978619.stm\">Military dictators don&#8217;t like opposition parties (even if the dictator in question is an ally in The War Against Terror)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/technology\/6980451.stm\">Apple is launching yet another vaguely pretty overpriced gizmo that I have no desire to own<\/a><\/p>\n<p>*sigh*<\/p>\n<p>No news may be good news, but it really is boring. How many more months have we got to put up with 2007? It&#8217;s been one of the most tedious news years in, well, years&#8230; The only excitement has been the long-overdue retirement of a politician who announced that he was going two years ago, and a bunch of floods that overstayed their welcome in much the same manner.
