But how about <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/uk_politics\/4826704.stm\">the other <s>donors<\/s> lenders<\/a>? How about, for example, Sir David Garrard and Andrew Rosenfeld, former co-owners of property group Minerva?<\/p>\n<p>Garrard has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corporatewatch.org.uk\/?lid=2388\">sponsored &#8220;The Business Academy, Bexley&#8221;<\/a> to the tune of \u00ef\u00bf\u00bd2.4 million (\u00ef\u00bf\u00bd100,000 more than he bunked to the Labour party to support one of their flagship &#8220;city academy&#8221; schemes), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/main.jhtml?xml=\/news\/2006\/01\/21\/nedu21.xml&amp;sSheet=\/portal\/2006\/01\/21\/ixportal.html\">not that it did much good<\/a> despite what the Department for Education and Skills <a href=\"http:\/\/www.standards.dfes.gov.uk\/academies\/projects\/openacademies\/?version=1\">claims<\/a>. Garrard&#8217;s promised peerage was already under investigation for that sizable sum even before the extra couple of million in loans appeared. But do Garrard and Rosenfeld maintain links to Minerva as well as the government, and could those links be anything to do with the company recently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.property-week.co.uk\/issueIndex.asp?issueCode=12289\">gaining the right to develop a 440,000 square foot freehold<\/a> in the heart of the City of London, guaranteed to earn them back hundreds of millions?<\/p>\n<p><b>Update:<\/b> I forgot &#8211; (ex-)Capita man Rod Aldridge has also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.againstcorruption.org\/BriefingsItem.asp?id=8530\">bunked \u00ef\u00bf\u00bd2 million towards a city academy<\/a>&#8230;<\/dl>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OK, so the Capita story&#8217;s hotting up.
