Nosemonkey's EUtopia

In search of a European identity

How not to convince your opponents that you’re not the power-hungry megolomaniacs they make you out to be

Step 1) Be the European Commission, already derided as a corrupt unelected bureaucracy with far too much power

Step 2) Announce that you want to take over the world

  1. Divide and rule!

Honestly, this is much of what the EU is supposed to do. Would be better if it got its framing better. Unfortunately, behind the bad framing are also some misconceptions about how and for what purpose the regulations are to be spread around the world.

The ideal should not be to provide a competitive advantage for EU businesses, but rather to provide a level playing field for competition in combination with a progressive social and environmental policy that Europe seeks. The EU has a real opportunity to improve the world here, but it seems that it's only interested in its own relative power.
